The article presents the content and direction of boxing development in Belgorod region for sixty years in the context of historical and pedagogical problems. The study summarizes the theoretical and empirical material on the history of development of Belgorod boxing in the period from the 50s of the XX century to the beginning of the 21st century, with the emphasis on the educational value of this sport for the younger generation; the preconditions, stages of development and the modern state of boxing in Belgorod region are determined; the leading factors of boxing development in Belgorod region during the considered period are proved. In the work, three stages of boxing development in Belgorod region are conventionally distinguished: 1) 50th years of the XX century – the period of the formation of boxing as a mass sport; 2) 60th-80th years – the progressive development of boxing in Belgorod region, its access to the All-Union and international arenas; 3) 90th years of XX century – the beginning of the XX century – the development of Belgorod boxing in the conditions of the Russian state and market society. The pedagogical experience of the leading coaches of Belgorod region, first of all, the founder of Belgorod boxing V.D. Ivanov. The obtained results have allowed to reveal essential characteristics and features of development of boxing in Belgorod region for 60 years of its existence.
