The total sample size of the empirical study involved 134 employees first appointed to the service in the Departments of Internal Affairs with a period of service from 3 months to 1 year. The following methods were used in the research: a multi-level personality questionnaire (MLE) “Adaptability” (A.G. Maklakov, S.V. Germanin) designed for identifying adaptation indicators, the methodology of multilateral study of personality (MIL) B.F. Berezina to determine personal characteristics. The respondents were divided into three groups, depending on the level of expression of their personal adaptation potential: group I − 15 people, persons with a low level of personal adaptation potential (average age 28 years), group II − 112 people, persons with an average level of personal adaptation potential (average age 26 years), group III − 7 people, persons with a high level of personal adaptation potential (average age 25 years). Our empirical study reveals some differences in personal characteristics of employees with different levels of expression of personal adaptive potential, which may determine the specifics of their entry into the professional environment.
