The author discusses the scientist&amp;rsquo;s views of the concept of basic beliefs and their influence on the individual. Beliefs are the internal structuring means of experience, modeling of mental states and formation of behavior. There are situational (i.e., relating to the certain situations) and basic (relating to himself and to the world in general) beliefs. The results of empirical research of basic beliefs interrelation with the frequency and intensity of student fears arising during the learning and cognitive activities are presented in the article. For the whole sample (i.e. not relating to the course) there was detected a significant, constraining role of student fears and beliefs about control.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article considers the &amp;ldquo;fear&amp;rdquo; concept and its manifestation among students during the learning and cognitive activities.
