The article covers a universal category of the time as one of the components of the Russian language World’s picture. Views of the Russian folk about the Time are analyzed on the material of the proverbs from V. Dale’s collection, the folk’s estimation of the Time’s concepts is presented. The linguistic cultural aspect allowed to mark this category in the Russian culture and in the Russian language consciousness. This article is about a topical problem of development and expression of a linguistic picture of the World, in particular, one of its components – the category of Time. Analyzing traditional models of cyclic and linear time, the author aspires to show their interconnection and interaction as a basis of an integral human view of the World. The necessity to consider the category of Time is a linguistic and cultural one, i.e. the necessity to examine it in the unity of linguistic, historical and cultural aspects is also discussed in this article.
