The author provides a definition of the term &amp;ldquo;professional competence in the area of speech development of children under school age,&amp;rdquo; reveals the objectives of teachers&amp;rsquo; training at different levels of objective setting, defines approaches to the choice of training&amp;rsquo;s content.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The paper focuses on results, objectives and content of teachers&amp;rsquo; training in speech development of children under school age in the context of a competence-based approach.
