The genesis of the idea of civic education in the national pedagogy

The article analyzes the issue of citizenship and civil education in patriotic science. The authors consider some characteristic features of the formation of civil education in different time periods based on the analysis of works by N.I. Novikova, A.N. Radishcheva, K.D. Ushinsky, P.F. Kaptereva, A.S. Makarenko, V.A. Sukhomlinsky and other scientists. The main content of the article is the analysis of views on the problem of civic education since the XIX century and up to date. The article discusses the main pedagogical ideas on the problem of civic education, describes in detail their features in each time period, and presents some critical views of these ideas. Finally, the authors substantiate the conclusion of the ongoing development of the term "civic education" and investing it with a new content.
