Introduction. The current stage of development of the system of foreign language education in Russia takes place within the framework of global digitalization. Mobile learning as one of its innovative tools is rapidly penetrating the process of mastering a foreign language, helping to diversify and optimize the learning process for the modern generation of students. The use of mobile technologies in the foreign language educational process helps to increase the motivation of students to study a foreign language at a university. The purpose of the research is to study and analyze the impact of the use of mobile technologies in teaching a foreign language on the motivation of students to study the discipline. Materials and methods include: theoretical analysis of scientific, pedagogical and methodological literature on the research topic, pedagogical observation, questionnaire, conversation, analysis of research results. In the foreign language educational process, along with traditional methods, elements of mobile learning were used to identify its impact on the motivation of students to learn a foreign language. Results. Positive dynamics was observed, the level of motivation for the discipline studied by students of experimental groups increased significantly compared to control groups. Conclusions. Mobile technologies have didactic potential when learning a foreign language. Using them as a tool to create motivation for learning the subject, it is possible to learn a foreign language more effectively: interest in the discipline and involvement in the educational process are strengthened. Thanks to the use of mobile devices familiar to modern youth, which allow you to visualize objects, gamify the learning process, introduce interactivity and make it possible to individualize the process of mastering knowledge, the level of motivation to learn a foreign language increases.
